Memo: Speed of SOLVE. ========================== 07-NOV-99 08-NOV-99 12:59:55 Leonid Petrov pet@leo.gsfc.nasa.gov Speed of f-SOLVE. Once again coming back to the issue of SOLVE speed. Two global runs on bootes have been made: f-SOLVE in the fast mode and f-SOLVE in slow mode. F-SOLVE in slow mode uses the same algorithm as s-SOLVE and therefore runs for exactly the same time what has been confirmed by direct tests. Elapsed time of f-SOLVE in slow mode is 16:56:53, and elapsed time taken by f-SOLVE in the fast mode is 05:11:37. The ratio is 3.26 Detailed time profiling is attached. Description of the individual items is in the memo memo_990603.txt Additional runs were made in April 2000. Genereic Goddad solution 1135 was used as a benchmark. It uses USER_PROGRAM what takes the same time for f-SOLVE and s-SOLVE.
